Dreamcatchers represent one of the greatest and most fascinating traditions of Native Americans. 

 

The traditional dreamcatcher serves to protect a person's mind from bad dreams. Placed above the sleeping person, it serves as a filter where bad dreams are caught in the web of the catcher and are automatically eliminated with the first light of dawn. Hence, only good dreams pass through the openings at the center of the catcher, flowing down along the feathers to the dreamer.
